Happy Thanksgiving!

"Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;for his steadfast love endures forever!"
1 Chronicles 16:34

We have much to be thankful for! I can't believe that last year at this time our little turkey was in my belly!!

This year we had to chase him down just to get one good picture. The days of him sitting still for pictures are long gone and so short lived :)

May our hearts and mouths overflow with Thanksgiving today for all the Lord has done!

Turkey Onesie

Matt is working the early morning shift this weekend. So when he hit the bed at 9, I decided to get crafty.

I saw this idea on my friend Ally's blog. Such a cute little shirt for my little turkey!! I have been looking for a cute festive shirt for Cade to wear on Thanksgiving but hadn't had much luck. So this was perfect!

This was actually a pretty easy project. From start to finish it probably took me about an hour and a half. The majority of that time I was trying to get my pattern just right.

Since the big game is on Thanksgiving night I had to incorporate some maroon in Cade's attire.

Something about the holidays puts me in the crafty mood. I've got a few more projects going in my head right now.

My 9 Month Old!

We have a very busy 9 month old on our hands these days. This kid is all over the place! I'm not sure I will be able to keep up once he starts walking! I love this age. It's so fun watching him explore and learn new things all around him. He has also started babbling a lot. He says "da-da" and "ba-ba". We are working on "ma-ma". I don't think he has associated those with anything quite yet though.

At his appointment this month he weighed in at 19lbs. 12oz. and 27.5 in long. He dropped to 25th percentile in these categories, but no worries his head is in the 90th percentile!

Cade is an amazing sleeper, which we are very thankful for! He sleeps about 12 hours at night and 2 solid naps during the day. This is nice for mom because when he's awake he is non stop! He is also only nursing twice a day now, which is a little bittersweet for me.

Here are some things he enjoys these days....
  • EATING!!! This kid loves to eat! He eats 3 meals a day plus a snack in the afternoon. He eats mostly table food/what we are eating. His favorite foods right now are fruit (any type, but bananas are his favorite), bread, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, animal crackers and graham crackers. Basically if you put it on his tray chances are he will eat it.
  • BOOKS! Cade loves his little board books! He doesn't necessarily like us to read them to him, but he loves looking at them and turning the pages on his own. This is the one thing he will actually sit still and do for an extended period of time.

  • Going "bye-bye". Cade loves going places, especially the grocery store or Target (I've taught him well). He will just sit in the cart and watch everyone go by and will occasionally yell out if he thinks someone should be paying more attention to him. He also doesn't mind riding in the car now.
  • Going for walks or to the park (to eat leaves....)
  • His monkey lovey, Momo. A few weeks ago he became very attached to his monkey lovie. He carrys it around everywhere! It's so cute. If he gets fussy/tired I can just give him Momo and his pacifier and he will just snuggle up with him. Actually quite nice when it comes to nap time.
  • Helping mom around the house. Cade loves when I do laundry or dishes. He can be anywhere in the apartment and as soon as I open either the dryer or the dishwasher he is by my side immediately. Definitely makes those tasks more enjoyable.

Here are couple of pictures from Halloween. We didn't do much this year, but we went to trunk or treat at church on Friday night.

He hung out in the stroller like this most of the night watching all the other kids in their costumes.
With his little friends Jett and Liam. Aren't they so cute! They are all 2 weeks apart! Clearly Cade was done for the night by this point.

Cade, we love you so much! We can't believe how fast you are growing! Can you stay little just a bit longer? We love every minute spent with you, even the whiny ones, and can't wait to watch you grow more in the coming months!

Pumpkin Cookies

As stated before I love fall and all things pumpkin! This week I found a recipe for pumpkin cookies and thought I'd try it out. Well......they were AMAZING!! Seriously, you should stop right now and go bake them. A yummy fall treat. I made them yesterday afternoon and then we ate them while watching The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. I just love Fall!!!

Pumpkin Cookies

Cream together 1 cup of butter and 1 cup sugar

Add:
1 egg
1 cup pumpkin
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder

Add nuts if desired (I did not). Bake @ 375 for 15ish minutes.

ICING (the best part!!)
Melt 3 TBSP butter, add 4 TBSP milk and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Boil for 2 minutes and cool. Add 1 cup powdered sugar and 1 tsp. vanilla. Drizzle icing over cooled cookies. Enjoy with a class of milk!

And since no post is complete without a picture of my crazy Cade.....

We sure do love books around here these days.

Melt My Heart!!

I don't think these two could get any cuter!! My favorite part of this picture is Jax throwing the peace sign.

We made a quick trip through College Station this weekend after my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary party in Houston. Oh how I love the people who live in that place! If only I could get them all to move to Fort Worth.....

I love FALL!!!

The time of year has come when I become obsessed with all things orange, brown or pumpkin! I'm not sure why I love the Fall so much, but I fall more in love with this season every year. Pumpkin Spice coffee creamer, light jackets, long sleeve t-shirts, baking anything with pumpkin, babies in little jackets are just a few of the things I love about this time of year. The weather has even been very fall like the past week!

This past weekend we had our 1st annual Mosier Fall Family Fun Day!! The idea was born out of a Bacak family tradition and this year we made our own. Our friends Myles and Katy Adamson were in town on Saturday so they joined in the fun. We went to a pumpkin patch about 30 minutes north of here in Flower Mound. It was fantastic, definitely exceeded my expectations. They had hay rides, bounce houses, pumpkins, and hundreds of spots for photo opps! We had a great time. Cade loved playing in the pumpkins and watching all the other kids around him. It was even cool enough out to wear long sleeves and a jacket! After the pumpkin patch we came home and had carmel apples. A very successful 1st Fall Family Fun Day if I do say so myself.

All this rainy weather has made me want to bake all day lately, well not ALL day since I have a very busy 8 month old I have to keep from harming himself, but at least during naps. This morning I made Pumpkin Chocolate Chip muffins and they are quite yummy. Here's the recipe:

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins
(makes about 18 muffins)

2 eggs
1 cup sugar
Can of pumpkin
3/4 cup oil ( I used 3 parts applesauce and 1 part oil)
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup choclate chips
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix all ingredients together. Pour into greased muffin pans. Bake @ 400 for 16-20 minutes.
A very yummy afternoon snack :)

Anyone else have any good Pumpkin recipes?
